About SKR Meridian
The India Practice
SKR Meridian is the India presence The practice is built on three decades of direct advisory work conducted inside the Indian finance system: RBI-regulated environments, SEBI-governed capital markets, FEMA-framed cross-border structures, and the private credit and trade finance markets that sit alongside all of them.
There is a material difference between an advisor who has read the RBI Master Directions and one who has structured transactions under them, watched them change, and navigated clients through those changes in real time. The India practice is built on the second kind of knowledge. It is acquired only through proximity and time.
SKR Meridian does not operate at scale. It does not take on mandates it cannot give full attention to. The practice is deliberately sized to maintain the depth of advisory that the institution's reputation is built on.
The Principal
Founder & Principal Advisor
The practice begins with a professional career that started in Indian financial services in the late 1980s, at a point when the Indian capital market was a fundamentally different operating environment. What followed was three decades of work across structured finance, trade finance, private credit, and cross-border capital, conducted at the transaction level, across multiple RBI policy cycles, two major SEBI regulatory overhauls, and the full arc of liberalisation.
The value of that experience, for a client today, is specific. It is not knowledge of where regulations currently stand. That is available to any competent advisor. The value is in knowing what the regulator has done before in comparable situations, what the direction of regulatory travel has historically been, and what the structural decisions that look safe today are likely to look like under the next policy iteration. That kind of intelligence is not found in a circular. It is accumulated through years of being inside the system when the circulars were issued.
The founding of the practice in 2016 formalised a practice that had been operating informally for years. SKR Meridian is its current expression: eleven services, each of which has been delivered personally, at the transaction level, before appearing on this site.
The instrument follows the situation. Not the other way around.
One conversation is usually sufficient to establish whether there is alignment.
What this means for you
When a client brings a capital or structuring question, the RBI, SEBI, FEMA, and DPIIT context is not researched in response to the question. It is already held. The advisor has been inside these frameworks for thirty years. What is current, what has changed recently, and what is likely to change is part of the ongoing operating knowledge of the practice.
A client who arrives with a specific structure in mind will be told, honestly, whether that structure is correct for their situation. A client whose capital timeline is unrealistic will be told that, clearly, before the process begins. Advice that is shaped by what the client wants to hear is not advice. It is agreement with a fee attached.
All engagements are advisory and fee-based only.
Bring the requirement, the constraint, and the timeline. One conversation is usually sufficient to establish whether there is alignment and what, if anything, should follow.
